Ausschreibung P113 / 2025 - Postdoktorand/in (m/w/d) in Quantenphysik
The International Research Training Group (IRTG) "Imaging Quantum Systems: Photons, Molecules, Materials (IQS)" is a research program funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the University of Rostock, in collaboration with the University of Ottawa and the University of Calgary in Canada. The IRTG aims to investigate the structure and dynamics of quantum mechanical systems using state-of-the-art experimental and theoretical methods. A key focus is close collaboration with our Canadian partner universities to develop innovative approaches for studying photons, molecules, and materials. The graduate program provides an excellent platform for international research and collaboration in a highly topical and dynamic field of science.
Tasks / Aufgaben
- conduct independent research on a topic closely related to the IRTG's focus on imaging quantum systems
- investigate the fundamental quantum behaviour in photonic or molecular systems
- presentation of research results at conferences and workshops
- publication of research findings in high-ranking international journals
- supervision and guidance of Master's students in their research projects (ideally also PhD students)
- participation in coordinating and organising graduate programmes, workshops and conferences within the IRTG framework
- involvement in teaching
- acquisition of third-party funding
Requirements / Anforderungen
- completed academic university degree (Staatsexamen, Diplom, Master's, Engineering degree or equivalent) in physics, at least with good results
- doctorate with an experimental focus in quantum physics or a closely related scientific field
- solid expertise in at least two of the following areas: quantum optics, nanophotonics, integrated photonics, quantum information/communication, attosecond laser physics, ultrafast spectroscopy
- proficient in spoken and written English; basic knowledge of the German language
- experience in supervising and teaching students (e.g., in laboratories, tutorials, or practical courses)
- experience in publishing and conducting independent research
- strong ability to work in interdisciplinary and international research teams
